4-H Open House event was a success!

On Friday, September 24th our club held an Open House/Registration night. Representative members & leaders from the local 4-H Clubs in Upton & Mendon attended, to answer questions and share info about what we do in 4-H. Worcester County 4-H Educator, Lorraine Kiritsis, attendeed to answer questions about starting new clubs, and volunteer opportunities with this wonderful youth organization. 4-H Educator Gretchen May also attended, to offer information about Operation Military Kids.

Lots of families, from several surrounding towns, stopped by to see what our clubs are all about!

Clubs represented on Friday were:

~* Upton Hoofbeats Horse 4-H Club: Leader Karla Barrows

~* Upton 4-H Club: Leader Lisa Stratton

~* The WonderDogs Club: Leader Kate Hawkins

 4-H is open to all youth, both boys girls, ages 5-18!

New Website Coming Soon!

Hello everyone-
Just wanted to post a quick note, seeing as this blog has not been updated in over a year now! During the past year I have been posting updates and photos of club activities on our Upton 4-H Club Facebook page.

Our new 4-H year will be kicking off on October 8th- at that time we will be discussing a member-designed website which a parent has volunteered to assist with. Once that is up and running, I will post a link to it here!

Another Fair has come and gone! Last weekend several members of our club participated at the 60th Annual Worcester County 4-H Fair at Camp Marshall in Spencer. Here are some photos ... please feel free to share any that you have as well!

The sun was finally shining, and we had a great day!

Trophy Winners!

Several of our club members attended a show sponsored by the Central MA Rabbit Breeders Network and the Happy Hoppers 4-H Rabbit Club, held at the Spencer Fairgrounds on Sunday, May 31st.

Ally won 2 trophies for her cavies and Maline won a trophy for her lionhead bunny! Congratulations, girls!

4-H Club members meet author

Terry Golson, author of Tillie Lays an Egg and The Homestead Egg Cookbook, visited Upton last week to read her children's book about her backyard chickens. After the storytime, she stayed to meet with some of our club members and showed them how she used Clicker Training to get her hens to pose for pictures in her book!
